The Devil’s goal is to steal, kill and destroy us. I have to admit, he almost destroyed and killed me recently. A life circumstance caused me to not want to live anymore. I had suicidal thoughts and contemplated taking my own life. Even though I believed fully in Jesus, I couldn’t bare the weight of my circumstances. John Eldridge once said, “The Story of your life is the story of the long and brutal assault on your heart by the one who knows what you could be and fears it.” Satan knows that I am a Son of God and wants to do everything he can to destroy me and keep me from fulfilling the Call of God on my life. I can tell you with confidence, this attempt on my life he tried, has failed.
A.W Tozer said, “We have been snared in the coils of spurious logic which insist that if we have found Him, we need no more seek Him.” This was me. Once I received my Job at my home church, I felt as if I had “made it”. I quit seeking Christ with everything and used my Job as my relationship with Christ.
I tell you this, because I was caught in this snare. My plea with all Christians is to never stop seeking His face. We need Jesus daily. We need to remind ourselves every hour that we are not living for this world but a heavenly world.
We are Sons and Daughters of the living God. You better believe that as Sons and Daughters, God will not let anything separate us from His love. He will chase us down until we are found. He leaves the 99 for the 1, and that 1 is you.
Someone once told me, “God gives good gifts to His children. He doesn’t give us good gifts because we are good, but because we are His Sons and Daughters.” Stop trying to work for the love of God and just receive it. Lean back, breathe and receive the gracious love of the Father. He doesn’t ask you to earn it, He doesn’t ask you to work for it and He doesn’t ask you to beg for it. He simply asks you to receive it. He wants to give you good gifts and bless you because you are simply a child of Christ. At the beginning of time, He had His mind on you. It has always been about you. His love, the Cross and His grace was all for you. Receive it.
